TunnelPad

Request inspector

While you share, TunnelPad runs a dashboard on your own computer at http://127.0.0.1:4040. It shows every request through the tunnel as it happens:

  • the method, path, status and how long your app took;
  • the request headers and body (JSON is formatted);
  • the response headers and body your app sent back.

Replaying requests

Select a request and click Replay to send it to your local site again, exactly as it arrived. This is the quickest way to debug a webhook: fix your code, then replay the webhook instead of making Stripe or GitHub send it again.

QR code

The dashboard shows a QR code for the public address, so you can open it on your phone. Add --qr to tunnelpad share to print one in the terminal as well.

Privacy

The dashboard only listens on 127.0.0.1, so other people on your network can't open it, and the requests it shows never leave your computer. To turn it off, use --no-dashboard.

Saving requests to files

tunnelpad share 8000 --inspect=./requests

Saves each request and response as a JSON file in that folder, for tests or for sharing with a colleague.
